WHAT IS YOUR VISION FOR OUR PARKS?

Make your voice heard by participating in one of our Community Open Houses. Your input will help guide park improvements throughout the community for the next five years as part of our Parks & Recreation Master Plan.
The City of Southfield evaluates its parks and recreational programs every five years to ensure it is providing citizen with the necessary and desired facilities, programs and staff for the highest level of recreation experiences. The information is then compiled into the Parks & Recreation Master Plan.
If you can't make it to one of the Community Open House events you can submit your input via the Community Survey online by clicking the button below or pick up a copy of the survey to complete and bring back at the Parks & Recreation Office at the Municipal Campus (26000 Evergreen Road) or Beech Woods Recreation Center (22200 Beech Road).

Mask Up Southfield
In accordance with the City of Southfield’s updated mask policy taking effect on Tuesday, October 12, all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a face mask (fully covering nose and mouth) before entering any city office or facility.

Beech Woods Recreation Center

The Beech Woods Recreation Center features 17,000 square feet of recently renovated gymnasium space. The Center has the capability to run three collegiate basketball games simultaneously. If volleyball is more your game, the gym has the ability to run four volleyball games at once.

The Beech Woods Recreation Center hosts a number of Southfield Parks & Recreation programs including youth basketball leagues in the fall, winter, and spring beginning in September, January and April. Beech Woods Recreation Center also offers sporting opportunities for people with disabilities and for adults ages 50 years and over. Adaptive programs include wheelchair basketball, golf and tennis. Senior adult programs include bounce volleyball, tennis, pickleball and golf. Check out the Senior Activities page of this site or call (248) 796-4670 for more details.

Southfield Sports Arena

The Southfield Sports Arena (located on the grounds of the Southfield Municipal Complex) is a multi-use complex with a regulation NHL ice surface and an Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool. There are vending machines on site providing refreshments. Call (248) 796-4640 for more information.

P&R Building & Southfield Pavilion

The Parks & Recreation Building is located at the north end of the Southfield Municipal Complex (26000 Evergreen Road). The building houses the main Parks & Recreation offices, the main Information Desk where program registration takes place for numerous classes including dance, aerobic and art classes and is the location of the Senior Services offices and many of their activities. Many of the rooms in the Parks & Recreation Building are also available for rental.

The Southfield Pavilion, located within the Southfield Municipal Complex at 26000 Evergreen Road, has hosted conferences for over 2,000 people to trade shows featuring over 170 (8 x 8) exhibition booths. Break out space is available in five additional rooms located in the Parks & Recreation Building. Free parking for over 1,200 vehicles, as well as quick access to major area freeways such as M-10 (Lodge), I-696 and the Southfield Freeway, make it easy for your attendees to find your event. The Southfield Pavilion is available for rental. Please refer to the Rental Opportunities section of this website for specific details.

Burgh Historical Park

The Burgh Historical Park is one of Southfield’s hidden gems. Located on the northeast corner of Civic Center Drive and Berg Road the park features renovated turn of the century buildings nestled within beautiful manicured lawns and abundant flower gardens offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Gazebo Concert Series
Held each year at the Gazebo at the Burgh Historical Park, these concerts have become a staple of the summer season, not only for Southfield, but for Oakland County.

Special Occasion Rental Options

Special Occasion Rentals are currently suspended at the Burgh Historical Park.

Come see how your next event can be "Better at the Burgh." Available for outdoor and indoor events, the Burgh Historical Park offers a unique venue for your graduation party, family reunion, Bar or Bat Mitzvah or retirement party. There is adequate room for a tent for an outdoor party at the park as well as a parking lot and additional lawn parking. If you desire an indoor option, room for up to 50 people may be reserved within the 1854/56 Methodist Church or the 1938 Church Annex. Parks & Recreation Senior Services

The Senior Services offices remain closed to the public at this time.

The Parks & Recreation Senior Services (formerly known as the Adult Recreation Center 50+) offices are located within the Parks & Recreation Building at 26000 Evergreen Road. Senior Services offer comprehensive programs including classes, trips, nutrition and outreach programs, and a variety of other services. Some of the most popular offerings include monthly casino and luncheon trips, the award-winning Senior Gardens at the historic Mary Thompson Farm, and various athletic leagues including golf and bounce volleyball. Many of these activities allow seniors the opportunity to participate in athletic competitions at both the city and county level.   • TOSS (Transportation of Southfield Seniors) offers assistance with transportation to and from banks and medical appointments.
