Prescribed Burn Scheduled for November 6 at Southfield Oaks County Park

Oakland County Parks will conduct prescribed burns at Southfield Oaks County Park this fall. Prescribed burning will assist in managing invasive species and restoring ecological functions to natural communities. Prescribed burns are safe and done with the cooperation and approval of the local fire department. Minimal smoke will be produced. The burns are weather dependent and will occur over several days during November or December as conditions allow, generally between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The first one is scheduled for Thursday, November 6.

Outdoor tennis, pickleball, and sand volleyball courts will close for the season after play concludes on Sunday, November 9.

Park Services crews will begin removing nets for winter maintenance starting Monday, November 10.
