Picnic Shelters Summer 2024
Carpenter Lake Announcement

Carpenter Lake Nature Preserve is Closed for Construction

Update December 2023
Construction at Carpenter Lake Nature Preserve has experienced delays in paving and construction and will not reopen to the public until the spring when both phases are complete. If you are looking for parks with trails for walking this winter, there are several trails at nearby parks that are available. Bauervic Woods, Inglenook, Civic Center, Miller and Simms parks all feature popular trails both paved and natural. Valley Woods and Berberian Woods Nature Preserve all also great choices.

Exciting updates are coming to the Carpenter Lake Nature Preserve!! Thanks in part to a $600,000 Michigan Economic Development Grant, construction began Monday, July 31 on the expansion and improvement of the parking lot at the park as well as the addition of a small open-air shelter and an all-season restroom facility. The open-air shelter (max capacity of 25 people) will be used as a classroom for nature programs.
