The 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Center is a consolidated emergency services answering point responsible for processing all emergency calls and the dispatching of all police, fire and medical emergency services for the City of Southfield and Lathrup Village. The division was formed in 1978 as one of the first civilian consolidated dispatch centers in the state of Michigan. All members of staff are non-sworn, meaning they are not police officers, deputies or fire fighters. The City’s highly trained 9-1-1 civilian communications staff assists the public and supports our emergency services responders 24 hours a day 365 days per year.
