Round up the family and join us for a fun-filled evening at Barnyard Buddies Bash on Wednesday, August 19, from 6-8 PM at Inglenook Park! This free community event is designed for all ages and features hands-on activities, friendly farm animals, games, crafts, and more.

Enjoy an Evening of Barnyard Fun
There's something for everyone to enjoy, including:
•    Petting zoo featuring friendly farm animals
•    Face painting
•    Blow-up games
•    Yard games
•    Animal-themed arts and crafts

Feeling hungry? Local food trucks will be on-site with food and sweet treats available for purchase throughout the evening.

Whether you're meeting a new furry friend, creating an animal-inspired craft, or enjoying games with family and friends, Barnyard Buddies Bash is a great way to make lasting summer memories.

Senior 50+ Appreciation Night Returns August 20

Celebrate summer with an evening of music, fun and friendship at the annual Senior 50+ Appreciation Night on Thursday, August 20, from 6-8 p.m. on the Southfield Municipal Campus, 26000 Evergreen Road.

Presented by the City of Southfield Parks & Recreation Department and the Commission on Senior Adults (COSA), this free celebration for adults ages 50 and older features live music by UnCommon Experience, a games tent and contests, community vendors, exciting strolling entertainment including a stilt walker and fire breather, and fresh-off-the-grill hamburgers and hot dogs.

Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, as seating is limited.

The event is sponsored by SMART and Aetna.

Park Adventures – August Walk Series
Get outside and explore Southfield with our August Park Adventures series! These guided morning walks are a great way to enjoy local parks, discover hidden gems, and connect with the community. Walks begin at 9 AM and are open to all.

We encourage participants to register in advance. Registration is free, helps us plan for attendance, and allows us to notify you of any weather-related cancellations or program updates. You can call Nicole at (248) 796-4667 or use the Register online Today button. Just search Park Adventures.

August Schedule:
• August 6 - Freeway Park/Lincoln Woods Nature Preserve, eastbound Lincoln, west of Greenfield
• August 13 - Carpenter Lake Nature Preserve, 27225 W. Ten Mile Rd.
• August 20 - Inglenook Park, 20901 W. Twelve Mile Rd.
• August 27 - Berberian Woods Nature Preserve, Streamwood Lane, south of Twelve Mile Rd.

Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.

Paw-ty in the Park Returns September 20

Grab the leash and join us for Paw-ty in the Park on Sunday, September 20, from 2-4 PM at the Dog Park at Lahser Woods, 27577 Lahser Road.

This free community event offers an afternoon of fun for dogs and their humans, including:
• Interactive dog training activities
• Doggy vendor booths
• Doggy & Me photo opportunities
• Dog paw keepsake craft
• Giveaways
• Dog Trick Contest

This event is free and open to the public.

Dogs that are not current members of the Dog Park at Lahser Woods are welcome to attend but must have the following for entry:
• A copy of current vaccination records
• A valid Southfield dog license

Certified Babysitter Training for ages 10–18, Wednesday, August 26, 5:30–8:30 p.m. at the Southfield Parks & Recreation Building, 26000 Evergreen Road. Cost is $60 per person. Students learn CPR, first aid, choking response, home safety and other essential babysitting skills. Full attendance is required for certification. Registration deadline is Tuesday, August 25. Become a Certified Babysitter!
Build confidence and learn the skills needed to be a safe and responsible babysitter with Certified Babysitter Training from Live Safe Academy.

This one-day class is designed for teens ages 10–18 and covers essential babysitting and emergency preparedness skills, including:
• CPR with manikin practice
• First aid and choking response
• When to call 911
• Home safety
• What to do if someone comes to the door
• Protecting personal information

Students who complete the full course will receive a Certified Babysitter/CPR/First Aid Certificate from Live Safe Academy, valid for two years.
