Southfield, strategically located in the heart of southeastern Michigan, is the state's premier business address. Southfield's Business Development Team focuses on welcoming global businesses as Southfield is home to 25 percent of all of Oakland County's companies and 25 percent of its international corporations. Southfield's golden skyline is comprised of more than 8,600 businesses and over 100 "Fortune 500" companies. With over 27 million square feet of office space and more to come, we are, indeed, "Southfield-The Center of It All." The Team invites you to see why.
Business Development Team is responsible for attracting and maintaining businesses that enhance economic growth and opportunity. The department is charged with facilitating the efficient delivery of economic development services to and for Southfield-based companies, maintaining an ongoing and extensive dialogue with the business community to ensure the maximum success in offering its business services.
Business Development administers a proactive business retention and expansion program designed to support businesses in the City of Southfield by coordinating the delivery of local, state and federal assistance and incentive programs. This includes offering site selection services, financing programs, workforce training, and other incentives. Staff also work with businesses to build productive dialog, establish strong relationships, and to uncover and address other important issues.
