Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG)

The City of Southfield’s CDBG HUD Entitlement of $397,949 for the Fiscal Year July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025 is allocated to the following activities:

1. Emergency Relief Fund (ERF): Provides interim care to low/moderate income residents to prevent evictions, utility shutoffs, food, medication. Budget: $41,644.15.
2. Cares in Farmington Hills. Food pantry serving Southfield residents. Budget: $20,000.
3. Southfield Home Improvement Program (SHIP): Provides funds to low/moderate income single-family detached homeowners for home repairs. Budget: $67,124.65. plus, revolving loan funds.
4. Chore Program: Aids low-income senior homeowners in single-family, detached homes with minor home repair. Budget: $200,000.
5. Administration: Costs for running the CDBG program. Expenditures include wages, supplies, legal notices, etc. Budget: $80,192.20.
