Art is officially in bloom in Southfield. On Thursday, October 22, the City of Southfield celebrated the unveiling of its newest public art installation with a ribbon cutting on the south side of the Public Services Building on the municipal campus.

The mural, Inspired by Nature: Michigan Perennials, was painted by Michigan artist Janel Miller. The exterior acrylic piece celebrates the native plants and pollinators that help keep Michigan’s ecosystems thriving, bringing color and life to the campus.

The project was made possible through the City Centre Advisory Board and the City of Southfield Planning Department. It is the latest addition to Southfield’s growing public art collection, which aims to enrich shared spaces and reflect the character of the community.
