The City of Southfield Wildlife Commission & Southfield Public Schools will host the Earth/Arbor Day Community Clean-Up on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. Those interested in participating are requested to meet at the Southfield Pavilion for team assignments. 

Suggested Items to Bring for the Earth Day Clean-Up 

  • Work Gloves – Protect hands from dirt, debris, and sharp objects. 
  • Rakes – Clear leaves, twigs, and other debris from trails and garden beds. 
  • Shovels – Assist with digging, leveling soil, and preparing garden beds. 
  • Garbage Bags – For collecting non-recyclable waste. 
  • Recycle Bags – For collecting recyclable materials separately. 
  • Water Bottles – Stay hydrated while working. 
  • Trash Grabbers/Pickers – Make it easier to pick up litter without bending down. 
  • Buckets – Useful for carrying soil, compost, or larger debris. 
  • Brooms – Help sweep paved areas or sidewalks. 
  • Compostable Yard Waste Bags – For leaves, branches, and other organic material. 
  • Sun Protection – Hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen for protection from the sun. 
  • First Aid Kit – Bandages, antiseptic wipes, and any necessary medical supplies for minor injuries. 
  • Comfortable Clothing & Closed-Toe Shoes – Wear weather-appropriate, durable clothing and sturdy shoes for safety.
