City of Southfield Declares Snow Emergency Through January 27
January 25, 2026
The City of Southfield has declared an official Snow Emergency due to ongoing winter weather conditions. The Snow Emergency will take effect today, January 25, 2026, beginning at 6:00 PM and will remain in effect through Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 6:00 AM.
All vehicles must be moved off residential streets to allow snow plows and emergency vehicles to operate safely and efficiently. Vehicles left on the street during the Snow Emergency may be subject to ticketing or towing.
Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary while crews work to maintain safe travel conditions.
By City Code, homeowners, renters, and businesses are responsible for clearing snow and ice from sidewalks and curb cuts in front of their property within twenty-four (24) consecutive hours. Residents are also reminded not to leave pets outside during extreme conditions and to assist elderly or handicapped neighbors who may need support with snow removal.
The City appreciates the cooperation of all residents as we work to keep Southfield roadways and neighborhoods safe.
