Founders’ Week is here and the Brothers of Sigma Delta Lambda Chapter are setting the tone for service and unity.

On Monday, December 1, from noon to 6 p.m., the chapter will host a community blood drive at the Southfield Public Library, 26300 Evergreen Road, in partnership with the American Red Cross.

This event marks the first of several Founders’ Week activities across Michigan, bringing together nine of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.’s 20 college and alumni chapters under the theme “In the Spirit of Unity and Service to Our Communities.”

“The Southfield drive in 2019 exceeded expectations with 39 donors and 32 pints collected,” said Trudy Smith, Red Cross planning representative, “each pint donated represents someone’s second chance at life,” she added. While this year, the Brothers of Sigma Delta Lambda aim to raise that bar once again to 50 pints.

Brothers, families and supporters are encouraged to schedule an appointment at RedCrossBlood.org using sponsor code “sfldlibrary” or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). Walk-ins will be accepted as space allows.

*As we honor our Founders, let’s remember the charge they left us — to serve and to transcend!
