City of Southfield Inauguration of Elected Officials to take Place November 17

The City of Southfield will hold an official inauguration ceremony on Monday, November 17 at 6 p.m. in the Southfield City Council Chambers, located at 26000 Evergreen Road to swear in newly elected officials following the November general election.

The ceremony will begin with a presentation of colors by the Southfield Police and Fire Honor Guard followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and a singing of the National Anthem by Rosemerry Allen, Southfield Police Department Chaplain. The MC for the ceremony will be Paul Allen from WJZD Radio. The invocation will be done by Rabbi Aaron Starr from Congregation Shaarey Zedek, followed by the oath of office. Following the  oath of office will be the first regular City Council meeting where the Council president and Council president Pro Tem will be chosen.  Remarks will then be given by Southfield Mayor Dr. Ken Siver. The Benediction will be provided by Reverend Dr. Kevin B. Smalls, Hope United Methodist Church. Hors d’oeuvres will be served following the ceremony.
