The City of Southfield will host the Summer in the City Concert on July 18 from 7-9 p.m. on the front lawn of the Southfield Municipal Campus, 26000 Evergreen Road.

Aguanko is a dynamic 6–7 piece Latin Jazz ensemble from Michigan, led by acclaimed percussionist and composer Alberto Nacíf. Blending jazz with Son-Salsa traditions, they’ve earned national recognition with their debut album Elemental, praised by critics and featured in JazzWeek’s top airplay rankings. More than a performance band, Aguanko’s members are seasoned educators who also offer in-depth demonstrations on the rich diversity of Cuban musical styles—from the Rumba complex to Carnival rhythms—highlighting traditional instrumentation, rhythmic breakdowns, and the historical evolution of Latin Jazz, with a special focus on percussion.

In addition to the music enjoy delicious eats for purchase from the following food trucks: Hero or Villain, Egg Roll Diva and Stephens Southern Delights!

Celebrate summer in Southfield and enjoy a beautiful evening with great music, great local food trucks and good times.

Be sure to also join us on Friday, July 25 for the final Summer in the City Concert of the season featuring Drey Skonie and the Klouds performing Retro-style band with a modern twist.
