Southfield Sports Arena Pool closed for 2022 season

The Southfield Sports Arena pool is inoperable and will not be open for the 2022 season. The pool is over 50 years old and due to its failing mechanics and filtration system as well as inadequate structural integrity it is no longer safe to operate. The estimated cost for replacing and repairing those elements is over $2.5 million. Additional, the current pool is archaically designed, does not meet ADA accessibility requirements and does not meet our residents’ needs. The P&R Master Plan process outlined residents’ desire for an indoor pool. An Aquatic/Pool Study is scheduled for July/August to research and evaluate the City's next steps.

Following is a listing of local pool locations, fees and times as options for Southfield residents this summer. The City of Southfield and the City of Oak Park are currently working on an intergovernmental agreement that will allow Southfield residents to use Oak Park's Aquatic Facility located at 14300 Oak Park Blvd at resident rates.
