The Southfield Police and Fire Departments are partnering with Meijer to sponsor Shop with a Hero on Wednesday, December 5 at 9:30 a.m. at the Southfield Meijer, 28800 Telegraph Road.

Southfield police officers, firefighters and dispatchers will shop with foster children from Orchards Children’s Services for the holidays. Children will be able to shop with local heroes to select gifts for themselves and their families and then wrap the gifts together while enjoying snacks and refreshments. Friends of the Southfield Police will be donating wrapping paper and refreshments for the event. Meijer is sponsoring the event and donating gift cards for the shoppers.

“This is such a special event,” stated Acting Police Chief Brian Bassett. “Not only do we get to help foster children in our community, but we also give kids the opportunity to have positive interactions with members of our Police and Fire Departments.”

Meijer sponsors several Shop with a Hero events each holiday season, pairing underprivileged children with area heroes to shop for holiday gifts.
