The Southfield Parks & Recreation Department will offer a Tennis Free for All clinic on Saturday, May 6 from 10 - 11:30 a.m. at the Beech Woods Park Tennis Courts, 22200 Beech Road.

The free 90-minute beginner tennis class will take place at a new location, the Beech Woods Park Tennis Courts, due to renovation to the Civic Center Park Tennis Complex. This class is designed for the inexperienced or beginner tennis player, but all levels of play are welcome. Instruction will include basic strokes, forehand, backhand, serve and volley. Participants are encouraged to bring their own tennis racket. There will be a limited number of tennis rackets on hand for newcomers to try. There is no charge to participate in this event; however, the Parks & Recreation Department requests that participants pre-register by calling 248-796-4620.

The Southfield Parks & Recreation Department offers beginner and intermediate tennis lessons for ages four and up with options for teens and families. Lessons are offered throughout the spring and summer.

Renovation to the Civic Center Park Tennis Courts will begin in the spring. Existing courts will be resurfaced and new light poles and foundations will be installed. The tennis complex will be closed to the public during this time for visitor and worker safety. This project is anticipated to be completed by July, weather permitting.
