The Southfield Parks & Recreation Department will host the Summer Wind Down Concert featuring Jackie C. and the Detroit Rhythm Band on Friday, August 15 from 7-9 p.m. on the Southfield Municipal Campus front lawn, 26000 Evergreen Road.
As summer winds down, the City of Southfield will host a new take on a seasonal favorite. Pack your lawn chairs or a blanket and settle in for a relaxing night of music under the summer sky.
This year’s event puts the spotlight on live music and great food, with an evening performance by Jackie C. & the Detroit Rhythm Band, playing your favorite R&B and Soul hits from the ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s. Enjoy delicious eats from local food trucks including Egg Roll Diva, Kona Ice, RJ’s Dog House, and Mookey’s Beans & Greens. Please note: This event no longer includes a cash bar or marketplace vendors as featured in previous years.
This event is put on with the help of presenting sponsor Vibe Credit Union.
About Jackie C. & The Detroit Rhythm Band
Jackie C. & The Detroit Rhythm Band emerged from Jackie Clipper’s passion for performance and her love of live music. After years of collaborating with Detroit-area groups, Jackie founded the band in 2011 with the goal of creating a soulful, high-energy ensemble that reflected her eclectic musical tastes—blues, old-school R&B, jazz, neo-soul, and funk. She carefully assembled a lineup of seasoned local musicians who shared her vision for delivering electrifying shows and authentic sound.
Together, they quickly built a reputation across Metro Detroit for dynamic stage presence and crowd-pleasing sets. Jackie’s leadership and the band’s chemistry helped solidify their place in the city’s vibrant music scene, leading to appearances at festivals, clubs, and special events. The group became known not only for their covers but also for original compositions like “Why You Treat Me So Bad” and “I Gotta Be Me,” reflecting Jackie C’s commitment to artistic expression and musical excellence.
