The City of Southfield Parks & Recreation Department, together with the Southfield Public Library, Southfield Police Department and Southfield Fire Department, will present a new Halloween tradition with Book & Boo at Bedford Woods Park located on Lathrup Drive north of Twelve Mile Road (just east of Southfield Road).

Children ages 2-10 and their families are invited to meet characters from a popular Halloween story while safely trick-or-treating along a decorated trail. At the end of the path, each child will also receive a pumpkin to take home. Participants are encouraged to come in costume; however, this is an all outdoor event so please dress accordingly. There are two, one-hour time slots available for families to choose from (1-2 p.m. or 3-4 p.m.) on a first-come, first-served basis. Each time slot will be limited to 80 total participants (children and adults).

Tickets are $5 per person for Southfield residents and $10 per person for non-residents. One adult must be present per family for this event and each person attending must purchase a ticket. There are three convenient ways to purchase tickets:

  • Register online at https://apm.activecommunities.com/SouthfieldParks
  • Call the Parks & Recreation Information Desk at (248) 796-4620 Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • In-person at the Parks & Recreation Information Window located inside the Southfield Pavilion at 26000 Evergreen Road. Open Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Participants must stay with their group and remain six feet from others at all times. Face masks will also be required for all participants. No indoor restroom facilities will be available; however, porta-potties and hand sanitizing stations will be onsite. For more information, call the Parks and Recreation Department at (248) 796-4620.
