Southfield Parks & Recreation to host Senior Appreciation Night August 21
August 7, 2025
Southfield Parks & Recreation, in partnership with Southfield Human Services and the Commission on Senior Adults (COSA), will host Senior Appreciation Night on Thursday, August 21 from 6-8 p.m. on the Southfield Municipal Campus Front Lawn, 26000 Evergreen Road.
Senior Appreciation Night is an annual evening event that is the City’s way of showing appreciation for the many contributions of the senior community. Please note the event has moved from its usual Wednesday to Thursday this year—but it will still feature the same great night you know and love!
The event will include a free boxed dinner for seniors aged 50 and older and live entertainment with the soulful sounds of Motor City Soul. The event will also feature a community vendor fair for residents to explore the resources available for seniors in Southfield and will have local goods and services available. New this year, the event will also have outdoor games and a Hustle demonstration (including Boots on the Ground). Bring your lawn chairs and get ready for an evening of music, fun, and community!
Motor City Soul performs a special repertoire enjoyed by diverse audiences of all ages. Consisting of Kelley Rawls, Kenny Forter, Michael Whitehead and Mike Harrold on vocals, John Nikolich on drums, Josh Moyer on guitar, Steve Lee on Keyboard, John Morgan on bass Guitar and audio engineer Rick Bartos, the band delivers performances with energy and engagement that will leave audience members amazed and talking about their experience for days, weeks, and even months to come. They perform a unique mix of Motown, Soul, R&B, Funk, Oldies, modern Pop and Rock songs that will be sure to keep the dance floor full all evening long.
