The Southfield Human Services Department, in partnership with Wave Project, is organizing a clothing and essential hygiene item drive for homeless individuals in the metro Detroit area starting Monday, July 12 through Friday, July 16. Donations can be dropped off at the Southfield Human Services Offices, 26000 Evergreen Road. The City is accepting new socks, underwear, t-shirts for adults (male and female), shorts and pants, as well as trial size toiletries. All donations will be sent to WAVE Project to provide area homeless with new clothes after showering.

“Personal hygiene is important for your physical and mental health,” commented Human Services Outreach Caseworker, Rhonda Terry. “A person may be experiencing hardships and homelessness due to various reasons.  Taking a warm shower and putting on clean, new clothes are basic needs that we are trying to fulfill.”
