Southfield Human Services to host Expungement Clinic January 8

Southfield Human Services, in partnership with Lakeshore Legal Aid and D. Augustus Straker Bar Association, will host a free Expungement Clinic on Monday, January 8 from 2-6 p.m. in the Southfield Public Library Meeting Room, 26300 Evergreen Road.

 

The Expungement Clinic will provide low-income individuals information on the laws and processes to apply for the removal of criminal charges from legal records. New cases will be opened for income eligible applicants who are residents of Wayne, Oakland or Macomb counties. The $10 Internet Criminal History Access Tool (ICHAT) fee will be waived for eligible participants.

 

The Expungement Clinic is available for people with two misdemeanors and/or one felony, five years after completion of sentence. DUIs and traffic offenses cannot be expunged. The Expungement Clinic can only assist with convictions from the state of Michigan.
