Southfield Human Services and the Commission on Senior Adults (COSA) will host an AARP Age Friendly Community kickoff event Wednesday, May 24 from 6-8 p.m. in the Southfield Pavilion, 26000 Evergreen Road.

The event will include an overview of the plans for the city of Southfield to be designated an AARP Age Friendly Community. Light refreshments will be served. Guests are asked to RSVP by May 17 to Rhonda Terry at rterry@cityofsouthfield.com or (248) 796-4540.

Designation as an AARP Age Friendly Community shows that a community’s elected leadership has made the commitment to actively work toward making their city a great place to live for people of all ages. Membership requires a multi-step process of improvement, including conducting a community survey and creating an action plan.
