Southfield to host Veterans’ Day Ceremony November 10

Annual event honors service and sacrifice of military personnel

The city of Southfield will host the annual Veterans’ Day Ceremony on Thursday, November 10 at 11:00 a.m. in Council Chambers, 26000 Evergreen Road.

The City sponsors the annual event in partnership with the Southfield Veterans’ Commission to honor and recognize the service and sacrifice of military personnel. The ceremony will begin with an invocation from Reverend Chris Yaw of St. David’s Episcopal Church followed by remarks by Mayor Dr. Kenson Siver and Southfield Veterans’ Commission President Gerald Houston. The ceremony will also include a keynote address from Brigadier General Jeffrey Terrill, Director of Joint Staff of the Michigan Joint Force Headquarters, a presentation by Southfield High School for the Arts & Technology Advanced Choir under the direction of Vocal Music Director Jeff Martin; a bugle rendition of Taps played Donald Jordan, Bugles Across America; and a 21-gun salute. The event will conclude with a benediction by Rabbi Aaron Starr of Congregation Sharrey Zedek followed by light refreshments.
