Southfield Downtown Development Authority to host Greet & Eat Engagement Series and Ribbon Cutting September 24
September 16, 2025
The Southfield Downtown Development Authority will host a special Greet & Eat Engagement Series Food Truck Event and Ribbon Cutting on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Oakland Community College – Southfield Campus, 22322 Rutland Drive.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will highlight the infrastructure projects and the new SEMCOG-supported 9Line Regional Trail. There have been more than $20.2 million in city-led public investments over the past decade—including road reconstruction, water main improvements, and upgrades to North Park and Rutland Road. These efforts, combined with more than $50.1 million in private investments in 2024, demonstrate the strong momentum revitalizing the Cornerstone District.
The event will also feature a first Responder Outreach with the Southfield Police and Fire Departments, including a fire truck and police vehicle displays, safety education, and youth engagement activities. Cokey’s Food Truck will serve lunch provided by the Southfield Downtown Development Authority on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Additionally, the event will feature community activities including kite giveaways sponsored by Kenmar, and Oakland Community College students touring public safety facilities. Elected officials, community members, and local businesses have been invited to attend.
“This event is about celebrating partnerships—between the city, our first responders, businesses, property owners, and residents,” said Molly LaLone, Executive Director of the Southfield Downtown Development Authority. “Together, we are making the Cornerstone District safer, more vibrant, and more connected.”
The Greet & Eat Engagement Series is a lunchtime gathering that offers employees, residents, and visitors a delicious midday break featuring great food, meaningful connection, and a chance to engage with the Southfield Downtown Development Authority in a fun, casual setting.
