The Southfield Police Department is now accepting applications for its upcoming Citizens Police Academy, a free nine-week program designed to give residents an inside look at local law enforcement operations.
Held weekly on Tuesdays from March 31 through May 26, 2026 (6:00–8:30 p.m.), the academy offers participants a hands-on, informative experience covering key areas such as investigations, use of force, dispatch, community policing, crime scene processing, and more. The program also includes demonstrations from specialized units, including K9 and SWAT, as well as a live fire scenario training. A graduation dinner will be held on June 2.
This program is ideal for residents interested in learning more about policing practices, building relationships with officers, and gaining a deeper understanding of public safety efforts in Southfield.
Applications can be picked up at the Southfield Police Department front desk (26000 Evergreen Road) or requested via email at tsimons@cityofsouthfield.com.
