The Southfield Chapter of My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) will host another Meal with a Message on Saturday, February 15 from 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Southfield P&R Building Room 223, 26000 Evergreen Road. This event was rescheduled from January 18 due to inclement weather.

The event will feature guest speaker Glenn McIntosh, VP and Chief Diversity Officer for Oakland University. Mr. McIntosh will talk about admission requirements as well as all the services available to incoming college students.  The group will also reflect upon Black History Month.

Young men of color in grades 6-12 are invited to join the members of My Brother’s Keeper for lunch and conversation. Participants will have an opportunity to share their opinions, interact with mentors and peers and create a path towards success. My Brother’s Keeper is a national initiative that focuses on teaching boys and young men of color how to be impactful leaders in their community and achieve academic success. The Southfield chapter of My Brother’s Keeper co-sponsors an annual youth symposium designed to help young men develop life skills and gain valuable information needed to succeed. The youth symposium serves hundreds of male students from local school districts each year. The group has also organized a youth job fair, necktie collection for young men and sponsored motivational events.
