Southfield Chapter of My Brother’s Keeper to host ‘Meal with a Message’ April 27

The Southfield Chapter of My Brother’s Keeper will host ‘Meal with a Message’ on Saturday, April 27 from 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Marcotte Room of the Southfield Parks & Recreation building, 26000 Evergreen Road.

Young men of color in grades 6-12 are invited to join the members of My Brother’s Keeper for lunch and conversation focusing on financial literacy. Guest speaker Ellis Liddell, president of ELE Wealth Management, will discuss finances, credit cards, loans, investing, financial goal setting, budgeting and how to avoid theft and traps. ‘Meal with a Message’ will give both middle and high schoolers the tools they need to be financially smart.

My Brother’s Keeper is a national initiative that focuses on teaching boys and young men of color how to be impactful leaders in their community and achieve academic success. The Southfield chapter of My Brother’s Keeper co-sponsors an annual youth symposium designed to help young men develop life skills and gain valuable information needed to succeed. The youth symposium serves hundreds of male students from local school districts each year. The group has also organized a youth job fair, necktie collection for young men and sponsored motivational events.
