Southfield Chapter of My Brother’s Keeper to host ‘Growing Your Dream’ Meal with a Message October 19

“What steps should you take to make your dream a reality?”

The Southfield Chapter of My Brother’s Keeper will host ‘Growing Your Dream’ Meal with a Message on Saturday, October 19 from 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Southfield P&R Building Marcotte Room, 26000 Evergreen Road.

Young men of color in grades 6-12 are invited to join the members of My Brother’s Keeper for lunch and conversation with special guest facilitator Southfield Fire Chief Johnny Menifee. Participants will have an opportunity to share their opinions, interact with mentors and peers and create a path towards success.

My Brother’s Keeper is a national initiative that focuses on teaching boys and young men of color how to be impactful leaders in their community and achieve academic success. The Southfield chapter of My Brother’s Keeper co-sponsors an annual youth symposium designed to help young men develop life skills and gain valuable information needed to succeed. The youth symposium serves hundreds of male students from local school districts each year. The group has also organized a youth job fair, necktie collection for young men and sponsored motivational events.
