The Southfield Chapter of My Brother’s Keeper will host a Fall Membership Drive on Thursday, October 18 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in Room 223 of the Parks and Recreation building, 26000 Evergreen Road.

My Brother’s Keeper is a national initiative which focuses on teaching boys and young men of color how to be impactful leaders in their community and achieve academic success. Interested volunteers are invited to attend the Membership Drive to learn more about the organization and sign up for various committees and open chair positions.

The Southfield chapter of My Brother’s Keeper co-sponsors an annual youth symposium designed to help young men develop life skills and gain valuable information needed to succeed. The youth symposium serves hundreds of male students from local school districts each year. The group has also organized a youth job fair, necktie collection for young men and sponsored motivational events.

“If you genuinely want to affect young people in a powerful way, joining My Brother’s Keeper-Southfield Chapter is a very satisfying way to accomplish that goal,” noted JoAnne Gurley, Chair of My Brother’s Keeper-Southfield Chapter. “There has been tremendous support from this community for My Brother’s Keeper. With our success, comes the need for more area men to join our ranks as well as for the corporate community to partner with us in this endeavor.”
