Progress continues on Department of Public Works facility renovations and modernization

Construction is progressing well on the renovations for the Southfield Department of Public Works (DPW) facility located at 25501 Clara Lane. The renovations are being performed by the Summit Company of Livonia with an estimated renovation cost of $1.4 million. The renovations are expected to take approximately six months to complete.

The scope of work includes the following:

  • Demolition of existing interior finishes, partitions, and building systems in areas to be renovated; 
  • Construction of new interior spaces, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire suppression and building technology upgrades; 
  • Exterior windows and new main entrance cladding;
  • Hazardous Material abatement; and
  • Addition of perimeter wall insulation and replacement door frames at several locations. 

Residents are reminded that the DPW facility remains closed to the public with Public Works Administration & Water Billing Department staff being temporarily relocated to City Hall or working remotely during the renovations.
