$7 million project part of an overall $100 million infrastructure investment in the city of Southfield over the next 10 years

The city of Southfield will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of Evergreen Road between 11 Mile and 13 Mile on Wednesday, November 1 at 11 a.m. The event will take place at Cranbrook Swim Club, 30580 Evergreen Road.

The project represents a $7 million investment, which is part of an overall $100 million infrastructure investment in roads and bridges throughout the city over the next ten years. The project received Surface Transportation Program (STP) funds for the road and Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds for signal upgrades, including ADA improvements at the intersections. The total project cost was $7,238,625 with $2.5 million in federal funds. The total Federal Aid (STP + CMAQ) cost share was $2,488,935. The local project cost was shared with the city of Lathrup Village ($800,000) and the village of Beverly Hills ($700,000). Southfield shares .5 mile of this corridor with the City of Lathrup Village and .5 mile with the Village of Beverly Hills.

The project included segments of spot concrete repair, asphalt reconstruction and resurfacing work with new concrete curbs, sidewalk gap filling including ADA improvements, drainage improvements, traffic signal upgrades and related work. The project also increased the paved shoulder widths to accommodate on-street bike lanes on both sides of Evergreen from 12 Mile to 13 Mile in addition to ditch improvements.

The ribbon cutting will feature remarks from several city officials including Mayor Kenson Siver, Council President Myron Frasier and City Administrator Fred Zorn.
