Kimmie Horne Jazz Festival returns to Southfield August 8 & 9

Festival will feature phenomenal live music, bike cruise, Fitness Hoopers, variety of food, boutique vendors and more!

The city of Southfield will host the 10th annual Kimmie Horne Jazz Festival on Friday, August 8 from 6-9:30 p.m. and Saturday, August 9 from 3-9:30 p.m. on the front lawn of the Southfield Municipal Campus, 26000 Evergreen Road.

This will be an unforgettable weekend in Southfield! The vibrant two-day outdoor music festival will feature phenomenal jazz music, food trucks, boutique vendors, Fitness Hoopers and a bike cruise. Parking will be available on the Southfield Municipal Campus for $10 (cash only) in both the north and south parking lots. Parking proceeds will help cover concert expenses. A variety of food will be available for purchase from several food trucks in addition to boutique vendors offering one-of-a-kind treasures. Please bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Additionally, Saturday’s event will include a special presentation honoring legendary artist David Myles with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Saturday, August 9

The Kimmie Horne Fitness & Fun event will kick off the festival on Saturday morning! Come out and join Kimmie for some fresh air, fun and fitness before heading back in the afternoon for the smooth sounds of the Kimmie Horne Jazz Festival!

· 8:30 a.m. – Detroit Twirling Steppers

· 9 a.m. – Southfield Cruisers bike ride

· 9:30 a.m. – Detroit Twirling steppers perform

· 10:30 a.m. – HulaFitNation Workout

Make it a weekend in Southfield with special Jazz Festival rates available for out-of-town guests or anyone who wants to enjoy a getaway at the Westin Hotel Southfield Detroit, 1500 Town Center.

Please be advised that Evergreen Road will be closed between the roundabouts as well as the City Hall front circle drive beginning on Friday, August 8 at 2 p.m. and will reopen at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 9. Drivers are advised not to come down Evergreen Road during the construction. All businesses will be accessible from Central Park Boulevard and the Southfield Municipal Campus will be accessible from either roundabout.

The Kimmie Horne Jazz Festival won the Cultural Entertainment Showcase in the National Civic League’s 72nd annual All-America City Awards (AAC) in 2021. As a national finalist in the AAC, the City of Southfield submitted the Kimmie Horne Jazz Festival to compete in the Showcase where communities presented the best in local and national talent, including Grammy-award winners and best-selling artists. The Kimmie Horne Jazz Festival won with most overall online votes out of the 60 total entries nationwide.

A descendant of legendary songstress and actress Lena Horne and singer/songwriter Cleveland Horne of the Fantastic Four, Kimmie has left her musical mark around the world from Detroit to Tokyo.
