City of Southfield seeks public input for Sustainable Southfield Survey

The Southfield Planning Department is seeking input from the community as the City begins developing its Sustainability Action Plan. Southfield residents and businesses are invited to complete the City of Southfield Public Sustainability Survey online at the link below.

Hard copy surveys will also be available at the Neighborhood & Information Center, the Parks and Recreation Department and the Southfield Public Library located at the Southfield Municipal Campus, 26000 Evergreen Road. Feedback from the community is required to help the City to prioritize sustainability projects that enhance the quality of life for Southfield residents and visitors. Survey responses will be collected from July 13 through September 30. 

The Sustainability Action Plan is currently in development and will be a comprehensive master plan for the sustainability efforts the city of Southfield. The Sustainability Action Plan will focus on 17 sustainable development goals with an enthesis on environmental, economic, and social issues. 

The Sustainable Southfield initiative aims to transform the city of Southfield into an environmentally conscious, economically prosperous, and socially equitable community. In order to be successful, the initiative requires a collaborative effort between residents, businesses, visitors, and elected officials. 
According to the United Nations, sustainability defined as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
