City of Southfield to Host Indigenous Heritage Celebration at Burgh Historical Park
October 10, 2025
The City of Southfield Parks & Recreation Department, in partnership with the Southfield Historical Society and the Southfield Public Library will host an Indigenous Heritage Celebration on Tuesday, October 14, from 5:30–7 p.m. at the Burgh Historical Park, 26060 Berg Rd.
This free event will be a wonderful opportunity for families, friends, and community members of all ages to come together and celebrate Indigenous heritage. The evening will feature a cultural presentation by Champion powwow dancer Reg Pettibone, a full-blooded Native American from the Ho-Chunk Nation, along with his wife Marca (Paiute Nation) and their daughters Autumn and Coral. Together, the Pettibone family draws on their traditional upbringing to provide audiences with a deeper understanding of true Native American culture through dance, song, stories, audience participation, and a hands-on artifact display.
In addition, guests can enjoy:
- Craft activities for all ages
- Tours of the Southfield Historical Society Museum
- Educational resources provided by the Southfield Public Library
Please Note that seating is limited and guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs.
