City of Southfield to host Family Fun & Bike Safety Night May 4

Southfield Parks and Recreation Department and partners will hold a Family Fun & Bike Safety Night event on Wednesday, May 4 from 5-7 p.m. on the front lawn of the Southfield Municipal Campus, 26000 Evergreen Road.

The League of Michigan Bicyclists and the Southfield Police Department will provide bicycling safety  information and Safe Kids Oakland County will supply 400 free bicycle helmets on a first-come, first-served basis. Oakland County Parks will be on site with an inflatable obstacle courses (socks required), a high ropes course, and a rock wall with bouncers. The Southfield Public Library and the Southfield Fire Department will also participate with additional biking and summer safety information and giveaways.

As a part of Safe Kids Worldwide, Safe Kids Oakland County is led by Providence Hospital and educates families, raises awareness, and advocates for improved laws to protect children from preventable injuries. This coalition creates safer environments for kids by implementing programs such as car-seat checkups, safety workshops, and sports clinics to help parents and caregivers prevent childhood injuries.
