Event sponsored in partnership with the Southfield Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Lakeshore Legal Aid to help residents 

The City of Southfield and the Southfield Alumnae Chapter (SAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., in partnership with Lakeshore Legal Aid (LLA), Southfield Police, the Wolverine Bar Association, and the D. Augustus Straker Bar Association will host an Expungement Clinic & Resource Fair on Saturday, April 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Southfield Pavilion, 26000 Evergreen Road.

The fair will provide the opportunity for individuals seeking to clear eligible criminal convictions from their records as well as provide additional community resources, skillset information, and other assistance. To determine eligibility, individuals must register in advance by Friday, March 25 at www.deltasac.org/expungement. Expungements are for State of Michigan convictions only, including up to three felonies, two convictions for assaultive crimes, one drinking and driving offense, and unlimited misdemeanors. Capital offenses and most criminal sexual conduct convictions cannot be expunged.

“Everyone deserves an opportunity for a fresh start at a new life,” commented 46th District Court Chief Judge Shelia Johnson. “This Expungement Fair (to clear criminal records of convictions) is vitally important for all those who may have made some bad decisions in their past but are committed to working on a bright future!”

The Southfield Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered in 1984 and now has more than 400 members. With the vision and efforts of 31 women, the SAC chapter forms a coalition with other organizations to carry out the legacy of the Sorority's founders while serving southern Oakland County communities through programs that strive to benefit families and youth.
