Due to weather conditions, the city of Southfield will extend the collection of yard waste on residents’ designated trash collection day through Friday, December 8. Depending upon the amount of yard waste in each neighborhood, collection may not take place on residents’ regular trash collection day.

Yard waste includes leaves, grass clippings, branches, brush and other organic material only. Yard waste must be in approved paper yard waste bags or in a rigid container clearly marked ‘yard waste’ and placed at the curb by 7 a.m. in order to be collected. Yard waste in plastic bags will not be accepted! Branches and brush refuse must be placed with the cut ends towards the curb. All yard waste and branches should be placed at the curb on residents’ regular trash collection day.

Branches placed will be removed by workers with brush chippers. Depending upon the amount of branches, it may take longer than the designated trash collection day to dispose of them.
