Unattended Collection Bin Requirements Now in Effect

On March 30, 2026, the Southfield City Council approved Ordinance No. 1831, establishing new requirements and permitting procedures for unattended collection bins placed throughout the city.

Property and business owners operating collection bins are required to complete the appropriate permit forms, available on the Building Department page, under the Permit Applications section:

• Fillable Collection Box Affidavit
• Fillable Collection Box Annual Permit Application

Point of Sale Ordinance Now in Effect

On April 27, 2026, the Southfield City Council approved and enacted Ordinance No. 1835, establishing a Point of Sale inspection requirement for properties within the city.
