Amusement Park Tickets Now On Sale
The Southfield Parks & Recreation Department, in association with the MRPA, is selling tickets for select amusement parks at discount rates. Residents can purchase tickets to Cedar Point, King's Island, Michigan Adventure, the Michigan State Fair, Oakland County Waterford/Red Oaks Wave Pools, or Six Flags Great America. Tickets are available from May 1 through September 1 (Labor Day weekend) at the Parks & Recreation Information Desk, 26000 Evergreen Road. Tickets must be purchased in person by cash or credit card (Visa or MasterCard) only, we do not accept checks as payment for amusement park tickets. For more information, call P&R at (248)796-4620.

Free Golf Clinics
Saturday, May 10, May 17 & May 24
11:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon at the Beech Woods Driving Range, 22202 Beech Road

Bring your questions with you to the Beech Woods Driving Range and a member of the teaching staff will be on-hand to give you tips to improve your game. Each clinic will last from 15 minutes to one hour depending upon the number of participants. Call (248) 796-4655 for more information.

Summer Camp Registration Going On Now
Southfield residents looking for fun summer activities for their children ages 3-17 years old can register them for one of the many Parks & Recreation summer day camps beginning on Monday, April 21 (unless otherwise noted) at the Parks & Recreation Information Desk, 26000 Evergreen Road. Non-residents may begin registering their children on Monday, April 28. Registration for Camp Kaleidoscope is accepted only at the John Grace Community Center (21030 Indian Street). Call (248) 796-4698 to confirm when registration is set to begin. All registration must be done in person. No mail-in or faxed registrations are accepted. Please bring a copy of the child’s Birth Certificate and be prepared to provide medical and insurance information along with emergency phone numbers and sign medical/liability forms. Payment for all camp program charges, including latchkey, are due in full at the time of registration and must be made by cash or charge (Visa or MasterCard) only. Camps are scheduled to run from June 16 through August 15 and include specialty camps such as Dance & Art Camp, Little Shot Golf Camp, Mini-Hawks Multi Sport Camp and numerous soccer and basketball camps as well as the popular Camps Tadpole, Evergreen and Wildwood.

 

Did You Know?

  • The Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for 780 acres of park land and open space at 33 sites throughout the City. Of the 780 acres of park land, over 333 acres are dedicated nature preserves.

  • The City of Southfield is home of Michigan’s first baseball field for children with any physical or mental disability. Working with The Miracle League, the City constructed a special field designed with a custom synthetic turf and handicapped accessible dugouts, restrooms and drinking fountains.
  • The Parks & Recreation Department offers hundreds of recreation programs at facilities which include two nine-hole golf courses, a lighted driving range, a 50-meter outdoor swimming pool, a senior adult center, an indoor athletic field house, an indoor ice arena and a neighborhood recreation center.

  • The Senior Gardens at the Mary Thompson Farm provide plots to over 100 enthusiastic gardeners who offer tours to school and scouting groups. The Senior Gardens have been recognized as one of the best community gardens in the nation by the John Deere Company and have received numerous awards from the Michigan State Fair.
