PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE CITY OF SOUTHFIELD YARD WASTE COLLECTION PROGRAM HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED until further notice by the City's vendor GFL Environmental. Yard waste includes leaves, grass clippings, branches, brush and other organic material only. If your household has placed yard waste bags or containers at the curb for collection (other than branches/brush that can chipped), residents are requested to please remove them until further notice of when collection resumes.

City of Southfield crews will continue to chip branches and brush only on your regularly scheduled collection day. Branches and brush refuse must be placed with the cut ends towards the curb on the regular trash collection day. Depending upon the amount of branches in your neighborhood, it may take longer than the designated trash collection day to dispose of them.

During the COVID-19 crisis, GLF is currently focusing their available collection capacity on the essential services of municipal solid waste and recycling collection and disposal. There has been a significant increase in solid waste in recent weeks that have led to this temporary change of service.

Please note that backyard burning of yard waste is NOT a safe or legal alternative:
