9 MILE ROAD REHABILITATION, INKSTER RD TO BEECH ROAD
Asphalt pavement removal and concrete rubblization of existing roadway with hot mix asphalt resurfacing.
- Underlying concrete pavement will be rubblized to serve as an aggregate base for a new hot mix asphalt surface for most of the project.
- Inkster Rd / 9 Mile Rd intersection will be cold milled and resurfaced with hot mix asphalt during a weekend closure.
- Four-lane section of 9 Mile Rd (just west of Beech Rd) will be reconstructed with revised lane configuration.
- There will be no work at the Beech Rd / 9 Mile Rd intersection.
Minor storm drainage improvements utilizing primarily open-ditch design.
New 4-foot shoulders will be constructed to allow for bike lanes along 9 Mile Rd.
Minor sidewalk ramp improvements will be completed.
Most guardrail runs will be replaced along 9 Mile Rd to meet current design standards.
Work will begin in mid-March 2020 and continue through October 2020.
Construction on 9 Mile Rd will be performed “part-width”, maintaining one-lane one-way for local traffic only. Eastbound-only local traffic will be maintained for the first half of the project, and westbound-only local traffic will be maintained for the second half of the project. Both directions of through traffic will be detoured up to 10 Mile Rd (highlighted in GREEN in the attached map).
This $2,010,000 project is being funded with $607,000 Federal funds and $1,403,000 City road bond funds
