Attendees invited to “Imagine the Possibilities” for former Northland Center from 6-7:30 p.m.
The city of Southfield will host the Family Fun & Safety Night on Wednesday, June 22 beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the Southfield Municipal Campus front lawn, 26000 Evergreen Road.
This free event will offer something for the entire family, including: a children’s fun area featuring inflatables (must wear socks), crafts, games and more. The Southfield Police Department’s K-9 Division, Mobile Command Unit, Special Entry Response Team, Crime Prevention, Community Policing, and Neighborhood Watch representatives will also be on hand in addition to tours of the Southfield Fire Department’s Fire Safety House.
The evening will be topped off with a special family movie under the stars featuring Minions presented by Park*It Family Fun Nights. The movie will begin at 8:15 p.m. and run until approximately 10:15 p.m. Please bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
As the city continues to pave the way for redevelopment of the former Northland Center property, Southfield residents are invited to “Imagine the Possibilities” for the future of the former mall site from 6-7:30 p.m. Representatives from OHM Advisors, an integrated architecture, engineering and planning firm selected by the city as master planner, will be on hand to gain input from the community on the redevelopment plans for Northland Center. Residents will be engaged at the event in visioning activities to consider the opportunities for the site, and identify specific types of activities and uses that will best serve the community at this landmark location. The preliminary vision is to provide community members with something new and incredible – a center for living, a place with an energy and pulse that will echo throughout Southfield. Come to the “Imagine the Possibilities” tent, which will be located near the library, and make your voice heard about your preferences for the reimagining of the historic mall property.
