Southfield Mayor Kenson Siver, in partnership with Home Depot and Lowe’s of Southfield, performed The Big Rake on November 3, 4, 11, 19 and December 2 throughout the city.
The Big Rake was implemented by the Mayor’s office to help seniors and disabled Southfield residents with fall lawn maintenance. More than 350 volunteers from Lawrence Technological University, Southfield Public Schools and Dürr Group helped to rake leaves at 115 homes throughout Southfield. Home Depot and Lowe’s donated paper yard bags for the program. Last fall, 250 volunteers helped clear 75 yards.
“The Big Rake program continues to be a great success,” commented Mayor Kenson Siver. “It is wonderful to see so many parents, students and staff from Lawrence Technological University and Southfield Public Schools as well as volunteers from Dürr Group step up to help those in need. The city of Southfield is a community that cares for one another, and that spirit was truly on display through this program!”
