Construction Projects

The City of Southfield makes every effort to maintain and repair all roads within the City's jurisdiction in a timely manner. Thanks in part to the passage of the Southfield Streets Improvement Bond, the City of Southfield will lead nearly every community in Oakland County in active road construction projects for the 2015 season. A detailed overview of all constructions projects taking place throughout the city as well as construction updates can be found here. 2015 Construction Projects


                                                              MAJOR ROADS

    9 Mile (Beech to Telegraph)

    The proposed project will widen the two lane road to a three lane road with a continuous center left turn lane and concrete curbs.  Improvements include milling off the existing asphalt overlay, 3” cover of stone and then overlaying with 5.5” of asphalt.

    North Bound Northwestern Service Drive (8 Mile to 9 Mile) (PDF)

    The proposed improvements include reducing the service drive from three lanes to two lanes, milling off the existing asphalt overlay and overlaying with 4” of asphalt. Pedestrian upgrades include accessible crossings over two bridges with some new sidewalk along the south bound service drive for connectivity.

    South Bound Northwestern Service Drive (Berg to Evergreen) (PDF)

    The proposed improvements will reconstruct the service drive from Berg to the off ramp west of Lahser Road and rehabilitate the remainder of the corridor by milling and overlaying with 4” of asphalt.  May apply for $1,554,300 reimbursement in October 2016.

    Providence Drive (JL Hudson to Greenfield) (PDF)

    The proposed improvements will reconstruct the road.

    Bridge Street & Hilltop Reconstruction (S.A.D.) (PDF)

    Concrete reconstruction to be partially paid back by a ten year special assessment for the business park.

    11 Mile Road (Franklin to cul de sac)

    The proposed improvements are to pulverize the existing pavement and repave in asphalt with new curb and gutter and necessary storm drains.

    10 Mile Road Bridge West of Telegraph (RCOC)

    The RCOC is doing deck maintenance on their 10 Mile Road bridge west of Telegraph. For more information click here.

     
    10 Mile/Greenfield Intersection (RCOC) (PDF)

    The project involves replacement of pavement at 10 Mile/Greenfield intersection. Also included is pavement replacement on the north, south and west approaches to the intersection.

    Section 11 Cranbrook Subdivision Water Main & Paving (PDF)

    The proposed improvements will spot concrete repair Section 11 streets and replace small lengths of water main in multiple areas.

    • May to November

    Section 12 Meadowvale Subdivision Water Main & Paving (PDF)

    The proposed improvements will replace the water main, reconstruct Everett Street and spot concrete repair the remaining streets.

    • May to November construction

    Section 13 Cambridge Village Subdivision Water Main & Paving (PDF)

    The proposed improvements will replace the water main, reconstruct Catalpa Drive and spot concrete repair the remaining streets.

    Section 26  Part of J Lee Baker's Washington Heights Subdivision Water Main, Drainage Improvements & Paving (PDF)

    The proposed improvements will install new water main. There will also be road pavement work and drainage improvements.

    The proposed improvements will replace the water main and rehabilitate the asphalt streets.
