Nine Mile Reconstruction - Telegraph Road to Lahser Road

Construction Start: June 18, 2018
Construction Completion: mid-June 2019

Due to the labor dispute in the road building industry, 9 Mile Rd between Telegraph and Lahser will remain closed to thru traffic until approximately the end of June 2019. The road will continue to be open to local traffic and progress will continue as long as the weather allows this fall. The road will be plowed during the winter months to maintain access to all properties, while the bridge will remain closed.
  • Removal and replacement of the bridge over the Evans Branch of the Rouge River
    • Bridge elevation raised 8' to improve site distance for 9 Mile Road traffic
    • 200' of 16" water main relocation related to bridge work
  • 9 Mile Road will be changed to a 3-lane road with 1 lane in each direction and a center left turn lane
  • Road pavement will be rehabilitated with 5.5" of new asphalt and new concrete curbs
  • 548' of 10" sanitary sewer replacement east of Plum Hollow Street
  • 9 Mile Road to be closed at the bridge from June 2018 through June 2019
    • 8 Mile Road and 10 Mile Road posted as detour routes
  • "Soft" road closures at Telegraph and Lahser for local traffic only
  • $8M project to be funded with $4.73M Federal & State funds and $3.4M City funds
