The Human Resources Department is responsible for the recruitment, training and development of City employees. We conduct job analysis, evaluations, compensation and benefits administration, establish and enforce employment policies and procedures, handle employee and labor relations and conduct new employee orientations. We also oversee employment law compliance, employee morale and welfare programs, employee training, as well as employee recognition programs.
The Human Resources Department provides support to two Southfield Civil Service Commissions: the Act 78 Fire and Police Civil Service Commission and the Administrative Civil Service Commission. We also support two boards: Southfield Employee Retirement System and the Retiree Health Care Benefits Plan and Trust.
