CPR Instruction


Southfield Fire Department, in cooperation with Providence Hospital, will be hosting Child Car Seat Safety Checks and Installation Training.

The sessions will be available, by appointment, on the first and third Thursday of each month, between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM. The training takes approximately 30-45 minutes.

  • Smoke detector batteries should be replaced every six months, so we recommend that you change them every time you change your clocks. In addition to changing your smoke detector batteries, your smoke detectors must be tested. Although smoke detectors differ by model (please review your installation and owners manual), most can be tested by pressing and holding the test button on the unit. The smoke detector will usually beep several times.

CPR Classes are available through the Southfield Fire Department. Instruction is given by Captain Melissa Medici at the Southfield Civic Center (26000 Evergreen Road).

The cost for the class is $25.00 (No Personal Checks or Credit Cards) for non-residents and $10.00 for Southfield residents and for City Employees. ALL students must bring a pen. Group sessions are available by special arrangement. Class size is limited so please register early.


Heart Saver CPR/AED/First Aid/ for Adults, Children, and Infants.

Certification cards are issued to those who successfully complete the class. The certification cards are good for a two year period.
