Event will feature the Dogs Days of SumMore Fest & the City-wide Rummage Sale

The city of Southfield will host the 1st annual SumMore Fest Saturday, August 28 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Sunday, August 29 from 2 – 6 p.m. at the Southfield Municipal Complex, 26000 Evergreen Road.
This free community event will feature food, fun and entertainment for the whole family, including: demonstrations from the Disc Dogs of Michigan and the Southfield K-9 Unit, the Huron-Clinton Metroparks Michigan mammals display, giant inflatable play structures, chess matches, butterfly habitat, and food vendors all weekend. A vaccination clinic sponsored by Tail Wagger’s, Inc. will also be open all weekend offering a variety of low-cost animal vaccinations. Dr. Bill Smaller and licensed vet techs from Sheehy Animal Hospital will offer distemper, rabies or bordetella vaccinations for dogs for just $12 each or $30 for all three. Distemper and rabies shots will also be offered for cats for just $12 each.

- Hayrides to the Mary Thompson Farm and tours of the Senior Gardens & Mary Thompson Farm House
- P&R’s fall class demos
- Closest to the Pin & Longest Drive contests at Evergreen Hills Golf Course
- Health fair featuring the American Heart Association, St. John’s Providence Hospital, Oakland County Health Department & Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan
- 1st annual City-Wide Rummage Sale from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Southfield Pavilion

- Doggie Costume Contest and Parade
- Exhibits from The Detroit Zoo, Michigan Humane Society and Detroit Audubon Society
- Veterinarians offering vaccinations
- Almost Home Pet Adoption Booth
- Soggy Doggy* at the Southfield Sports Arena Pool from 6 – 8 p.m. (*also takes place Monday – Wednesday, August 30 – September 1)
- Southfield Police will be on hand with pet licenses (bring proof of rabies vaccination with you). Discounts are given for pets that have been spayed/neutered (must provide written proof).
