The city of Southfield has been selected as a Diversity Champion in the 2010 Corp! magazine Salute to Diversity Awards.
Council President Donald Fracassi accepted the award on the City's behalf at the 4th annual Salute to Diversity breakfast program at the MGM Grand Detroit on August 31. Honorees were selected based on significant achievements in a category, as well as a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion, and contributions to diversity issues in business and the community. The city of Southfield was selected in the category of Diversity Champion for creating, sustaining, and promoting special diversity programs and initiatives; encouraging community awareness, understanding and relationships in the name of diversity and inclusion; promoting diversity education and training; highlighting diversity events and accomplishments; and fostering civic involvement to promote diversity and inclusion.
