The city of
Southfield will hold a Hurricane Katrina Outreach Recognition Ceremony
on Wednesday, June 21 at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers, 26000 Evergreen
Road.
Mayor Brenda
Lawrence and other elected officials will recognize public and private
organizations and individuals who volunteered time, goods, services or
other resources to assist evacuees displaced from Hurricane Katrina.
Several plaques will be presented to recognize the efforts of numerous
organizations, including the American Red Cross, Michigan Department of
Human Services, City of Southfield Emergency Management Division, City
of Southfield Human Services, Hawthorn Suites, Ltd., Homestead Studio
Suites Hotel, Extended Stay America Hotel, Southfield Hotel &
Convention Center, and Plaza Hotel and Convention Center. Certificates
will also be presented to several citizens and organizations that also
played a role in assisting evacuees.
