Operation Medicine Cabinet kicks off at Southfield Public Library Thursday, April 22
In conjunction with National Earth Day, the city of Southfield is co-sponsoring "Operation Medicine Cabinet" from 2-5 p.m. on Thursday, April 22 at the Southfield Public Library, 26300 Evergreen Road.
The public is invited to bring their expired or unused prescription drugs to the event to be properly disposed. Studies conducted in Michigan and other states have shown that many substances that are flushed down toilets or thrown in landfills often later end up in watersheds, streams and lakes. Proper disposal also helps prevent unauthorized users from obtaining unused medications.
The event will also feature refreshments, goody bags and earth-friendly door prizes courtesy of Wal-Mart and Sams Club. Operation Medicine Cabinet is sponsored by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office and Home Instead Senior Care. Visit www.operationmedicinecabinetmi.com for more information. |
